Short Biography
Fabio Principe was born in Castellammare di Stabia (Napoli) Italy, on January 28, 1979. He received the Master Degree (cum Laude) in Telecommunications Engineering from University of Pisa, Pisa (Italy), on May 2003. On 2004, he started the PhD course at Dipartimento di Ingegneria dell'Informazione, University of Pisa, with the supervision of Prof. Marco Luise. In this period, He worked on signal processing and synchronization algorithms, spread-spectrum techniques, satellite positioning systems, and low-complexity algorithms for Software-Defined Radio (SDR) applications. In the framework of such activities, he also developed the signal processing library of SOFT-REC, one of the first GPS/SBAS software receiver (an ESA/ESTEC-funded project, developed with INTECS S.p.A.). He also collaborated with the ex-LABEN S.p.A. (now TAS-I, Milan) in some European projects with the supervision of Prof. M. Luise. He spent about 7 months (from September 2005 to April 2006) at the Communication Sciences Institute of University of Southern California, Los Angeles CA (USA), as visiting scholar, by collaborating with Prof. Keith M. Chugg, and working on iterative detection problems by using Iterative Message Passing Algorithms. On May 2007, he got the Ph.D. grade in Information Engineering, curriculum: Communication Systems. On February 2007, he joined Ingegneria Dei Sistemi (IDS) S.p.A., and worked there for about 13 years. During this period, he was actively involved on several R&D projects on GNSS and communication aspects, with a specific focus in the air-navigation domain. He collaborated with ENAV S.p.A., AgustaWestland, Italian MoD, GSA, TAS-I, ESTEC, Thales ATM. On January 2020, he joined INTECS Solutions S.p.A. as responsible for the Radio Navigation and Communication Systems Lab. On May 2021, he joined HE Space Operations B.V. as Radio Navigation Engineer at ESA/ESTEC.
